Meppel Mosquito I was part of the exposition 'Komaf' (Origin). People of a diverse groups living in the province of Drenthe (Netherlands) have been portrayed. Hind, the girl   depicted in this portrait is third generation Dutch-Moroccan.  Above all Hind is Dutch. Only very few times some Moroccan sentiment comes to the surface, e.g. when she is at a wedding. She finds Dutch weddings a bit dull and modest. She also notices differences when people come to dinner. In the Moroccan way dinners are more festive and abundant. But in the end Hind is Dutch/Drent because she was born and raised here. See also the painting Meppel Mosquito II
